State Priekuli Plant Breeding Institute is the partners of the EUROLEGUME Project. SPPBI was founded in 1913, and is the oldest and most experienced agricultural scientific centre in Latvia. The institute covers wide range of activities on areas of practical plant breeding, seed production, preservation of plant genetic resources, applied and fundamental research, evolvement in postgraduate studies and advisory activities. SPPBI is scientific research in fields of crop production, provision of scientific basis and expertise in various sectors of crop production to develop and implement policies, to encourage integrated scientific and educational development and breeding of crops for sustainable farming systems using traditional methods and biotechnology.
Mrs., Dr. agr. Arta Kronberga lead partner and coordination WP 2 - Broadening of genetic diversity in breeding trough evaluation of local genetic resources.
Dr. Arta Kronberga responsibility will be seed sample mangement and genotype evaluation in different site specific conditions. As well she is a Task 2.2. leader where phenotyping of selected accessions for site specific biotic and abiotic stresses (under organic and conventional conditions) will be performed in 11 sites.
