Agricultural University of Tirana (AUT) is the unique higher education and research institution in agriculture and related activities in Albania. AUT is founded since November 1, 1951. Currently, it is composed of 5 different Faculties (Agriculture & Environment, Economics & Agribusiness, Biotechnology & Food Technology, Forestry, and Vet Sciences).
The research thematic of AUT is designed and conducted in conformity with economic and social development of the country. It is addressing serious and numerous challenges of country’s integration into European Community structures, increase of competitiveness of agricultural farms and their products, sustainable use of natural resources, and the increase of the domestic production and country’s agricultural and dairy products exports.
AUT participate in EUROLEGUME project by a team of 4 researchers.
Dr. Astrit Balliu, is country team leader. He will contribute in task 2.1 - Sourcing and characterization of genetic diversity of local genetic resources of pea and broad bean; task 2.2 – Phenotyping selected accessions for site specific biotic and abiotic stresses (under organic and conventional conditions); task 5.1.1 – Detection of highly-productive genotypes in terms of grain yield, and task 6.2. N availability to following crops.
Dr. Thoma Nasto will be engaged in task 2.1 - Sourcing and characterization of genetic diversity of local genetic resources of pea and broad bean, and task 5.1.1 – Detection of highly-productive genotypes in terms of grain yield.
Dr. Glenda Sallaku, will be engaged in task 2.1 - Sourcing and characterization of genetic diversity of local genetic resources of pea and broad bean; task 2.2 – Phenotyping selected accessions for site specific biotic and abiotic stresses (under organic and conventional conditions); and task 5.1.1 – Detection of highly-productive genotypes in terms of grain yield.
Dr. Lumturi Papa, will be engaged in task 4.1. - Evaluation of the quality of new feed and food and task 6.1. Added-value of crop residues.
